The Williamsport/Lycoming Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) works with entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in Lycoming County interested in developing an invention, new product concept or technology, or innovative idea by helping clients evaluate the idea, and then access the many useful resources available to them through the KIZ program. Our focus is on diversified manufacturing, plastics, wood products, and information technology.
To date the KIZ has consulted with over 260 entrepreneurs and companies, and allocated over $200,000 in funding to support our clients’ innovation, development and start-up efforts. The Williamsport/Lycoming KIZ is host to 15 KIZ qualified companies and 2 KIZ program “graduates.” We are also helping over 60 entrepreneurs in Lycoming County to develop new products and technologies.
KIZ is supported through the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development. KIZs are designated zones by the state of Pennsylvania to encourage creativity, foster innovation and provide entrepreneurial opportunities within geographic areas and industry concentrations.
