The Williamsport/Lycoming Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) is coordinating the third annual Greenovation Competition of Central PA. The competition is open to local inventors and companies with an original green product idea. Deadline to apply is noon on Friday, November 5. The winner and runner-up will receive prize packages collectively valued at over $13,000 to help turn their ideas into business opportunities.
This year’s competition will coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week, “a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people” run by Kauffman – the foundation of entrepreneurship. Finalists will present to a panel of judges on ‘Social Enterprise Day’, November 18, a day designed to encourage social and environmental change.
“Global Entrepreneurship Week is all about fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. Greenovation does the same thing on a regional scale, but takes it one step further and encourages entrepreneurs to ‘go green’ with their innovations,” stated Katie Bell, Williamsport/Lycoming KIZ Coordinator.
The Williamsport/Lycoming KIZ program is part of a state initiative encouraging entrepreneurialism, innovative thinking, and business start-ups.
